Join us for the “Rice harvesting” at rice paddies in Maruyama Senmaida - Fairfield by Marriott Mie Kumano Kodo Mihama
On Saturday September 12th, we are inviting guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Mie Kumano Kodo Mihama to participate in the “Rice harvesting” at Maruyama Senmaida, organized by Kumanoshi Furusato Shinkou Kousya. Maruyama Senmaida is one of the largest and most beautiful rice terraces in Japan and has been selected as one of the "100 best rice terraces in Japan.
Fairfield by Marriott Michi-no-Eki Project has been participating in the ownership program of Maruyama Senmaida since 2024, and we participated in the ridge coating in April, rice planting in May, and scarecrow making in July. This time, guided by local community members, you’ll harvest the golden rice, bundle several stalks together, and hang them on rice racks to dry in the sun. After the work is done, enjoy a boxed lunch while taking in the view of the terraced rice fields and savoring the bounty of the local area.
