Yoshii Gion Festival

“Yoshii Gion Festival”, is one of the most popular summer festivals in Yoshii Town. During the festival, the town is filled with festivities such as the 10-meter-high decorative Yamagasa floats, Gion-bayashi music, a variety of stalls, school mikoshi, and the Yoshii Ondo parade. At night, the decorated floats are lit up, creating a different atmosphere from the daytime.

The scale of the fireworks is impressive no matter how many times you see it, and it is said to be one of the largest firework festivals in western Japan. Approximately 2,500 fireworks will be launched. The venue, Miyuki Park, is a 30-minute walk from the hotel.

Shirakawa Suigen

A water source that represents Kumamoto Prefecture and has been selected as one of the ”100 Best Waters” by the Ministry of the Environment. It is the source of the Shirakawa River that flows through the center of Kumamoto City, and 60 tons of spring water with a temperature of 14 degrees gushes out every minute throughout the year. You can freely take home the natural water, and they also sell warmed water and empty bottles.


Takamori Yusui Tunnel Park Summer Tanabata Festival

1034-2 Takamori, Takamori, Aso District, Kumamoto Open 9:00~18:00 Period : Jul 3 to 7, 2026

Now in its 29th year, this year’s event features approximately 30 massive Tanabata decorations displayed inside the tunnel. The colorful Tanabata decorations, crafted by students from both within and outside the town as well as various local businesses, are suspended above the waterway, creating a magical atmosphere. The bamboo decorations are truly impressive.


Nabegataki

Kurubuchi, Ogunimachi, Aso District, Kumamoto Open 9:00~17:00 (Last entry 16:30)

Nabegataki Falls is believed to have been formed by the massive eruption that created the Aso caldera approximately 90,000 years ago. The falls have a drop of about 10 meters and a width of about 20 meters; the water cascades down in a wide curtain, creating a scene of great beauty and mystery.

Tarumizu Fureai Festa 2026 Summer festival

As a Tarumizu City's summer tradition, the Fureai Festa Summer Festival is held, lights up the night sky of Tarumizu City with stage events, approximately 5,000 underwater fireworks
